✔ Young Adult fantasy ✔ A boy's adventure to give more "time" to his sick mother
★★★★☆ The story is about Krish whose mother is dying, so to give her more time he sets off to another world to collect the Myrthali, the essence of time. A nice YA fantasy, just like the cover of the book, soon enough you'll find yourself fall down the rabbit hole.

I have to start by saying I've never really read fantasy, magic filled, wizard flying around type of books. No Potter, no Hobbit, no Rings. The last one was Michael Ende's Never Ending Story when I was 13 or 14 - and to my great and pleasant surprise, I loved The Boy Who Stole Time.
It reminded me of Ende's book, for its adventures in an unknown world and friendship with someone who doesn't share the same background. Balthrir, a girl wizard the main character Krish meets in this world called Ilir, reminds me of courageous girls from Ghibli films. Anyone who read this will want to sit near the fire with her!
The story is about Krish whose mother is dying, so to give her more time he sets off to another world to collect the Myrthali, the essence of time. Krish starts off as a boy who is never sure of himself, but through his adventures with Balthrir he learns to be confident, the kind of confidence you can only gain by putting yourself out there and making decisions when nothing seems to be possible.
The attack from monstrous creatures that you can only "see" with your eyes closed, the magical gifts he collects, the king, the savages, the endless desert, the Night Ocean, the bird, and the palace... the imagination of the author is bottomless. Just like the cover of the book, soon enough you'll find yourself fall down the rabbit hole. And waiting for my friend to write the sequel now!
